28. May 2025
On 27 May 2025, EFRAG issued further support material on the voluntary standard for non-listed micro, small and medium-sized undertakings (VSME).
The support material includes a digital template for the VSME (in MS Excel and in English only), which features interactive elements, auto-calculations, consistency checks, among other things. EFRAG also created an XBRL taxonomy for the VSME and a converter that can be used to convert the data in the digital template into a machine-readable format. Finally, an explanatory note has been issued and a video with further explanations is to follow.
The EU Commission is expected to issue the VSME as a recommendation in the EU Official Journal in the near future, which may require changes to the support material. As part of the Omnibus 1 package, the EU Commission also announced that it would make the VSME the basis for a voluntary standard for sustainability reporting, which will be adopted as a delegated act and serve to limit the trickle-down effect for information requests to entities not subject to reporting requirements along the value chain of entities subject to sustainability reporting (value chain cap).
