On 29 April, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) issued the final Guidelines on Enforcement of Sustainability Information (GLESI) in all official EU languages. These are aimed at the national competent authorities (BaFin in Germany) that are responsible for the enforcement of sustainability information. The GLESI apply to sustainability information published from 1 January 2025. This is followed by a two-month period during which the national competent authorities must declare whether they will apply the GLESI. Germany has the notable circumstance that the CSRD has still not been transposed into German law.
Background:
ESMA had already issued a report on the finalisation of the GLESI on 5 July 2024.
