EFRAG launches consultation on future research activities

The European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) launched a survey of its constituents on the orientation of its research programme. The aim of the consultation is to obtain feedback on two issues: On the one hand, EFRAG wants to find out how strongly the influence of previous research projects on the development of IFRSs is assessed and to explore any potential for improvement; on the other hand, it wants to ascertain which topics the European Commission advisor should deal with in the coming years in the context of his proactive activities, according to the respondents. EFRAG makes five concrete proposals, but is also open to other suggestions.

The ASCG strongly supports EFRAG’s call: “The German standard setter is already involved in the research work of EFRAG through its Executive Director Prof Dr Sven Morich in his role as a member of the Technical Experts Group (TEG). Therefore, we also have a high interest in finding out from our members and the wider German business community whether, on which topics and in which form the ASCG should be involved in these activities”, the President of the ASCG, Prof Dr Andreas Barckow, comments the initiated consultation.

Feedback on EFRAG’s 15-page consultation paper can be submitted in writing or online by 1 June 2018. You can also submit your views to us, we will then pass them on to EFRAG. Please send an email to Ms. Bahrmann (bahrmann@drsc.de) or give us a call.
