IFRS Foundation appoints Steven Maijoor as Chair of the Trustees and Sams Woods as Chair of the IASB

On 11 August 2026, the Trustees of the IFRS Foundation, under which the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) operates, have announced two key leadership appointments:

• Steven Maijoor has been appointed as the next Chair of the Trustees, effective 1 January 2027, succeeding Erkki Liikanen.
• Sam Woods has been appointed as Chair of the IASB, effective 1 October 2026. He succeeds Andreas Barckow, whose term ended in June 2026.
• Laura Forzani had already been announced as Michel Madelain’s successor in the role of Managing Director; she will assume her position on 1 September 2026.
