Representatives of the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany (DRSC) and the Sustainability Standards Board of Japan Hold Meeting in Berlin

Representatives of the Accounting Standards Committee of Germany (Deutsches Rechnungslegungs Standards Committee e.V.; DRSC) and the Sustainability Standards Board of Japan (SSBJ) met on 21 May 2026 in Berlin, Germany.

During the meeting, the DRSC and the SSBJ provided updates on their respective activities, discussed the recent discussions developments of the N-ESRS for non-EU companies, and exchanged views on opportunities for future cooperation.

The DRSC and the SSBJ plan to continue to exchange views.

Georg Lanfermann, President of the DRSC, stated: “We are very happy to have had the chance to meet with the Chair and a Board Member of the Sustainability Standards Board of Japan, Nobu (Yasunobu) Kawanishi and Nami Yamaguchi here in Berlin. It has proven again that these bilateral meetings are very helpful to foster the understanding between different jurisdictions and we thank Nobu and Nami for sharing their experiences and their perspective regarding current discussions in Japan.”

Yasunobu Kawanishi, Chair of the SSBJ, stated: “I would like to thank the DRSC, under the leadership of Mr. Georg Lanfermann, for hosting this meeting in Berlin. The discussions in this meeting were extremely helpful for us to learn about the situation in Germany and Europe in general. We look forward to continuing this fruitful dialogue with the DRSC in the future.”
