Taxonomy Regulation: Consultations by the ESAs begin

On 1 July 2026, the three ESAs launched separate public consultations on specific reporting obligations under the Taxonomy Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2020/852) and announced public hearings on the matter (consultation documents from ESMA, EBA and EIOPA). The consultations will each close on 12 August 2026.

The consultation documents contain proposals to simplify reporting in accordance with Delegated Regulation (EU) 2021/2178. For example, the proposals for non-financial undertakings include changes to OpEx disclosures, reporting templates and accompanying information. The DRSC will participate in the consultations.

Background: In March 2026, the European Commission mandated the ESAs to draw up recommendations for amending the reporting of taxonomy disclosures by October 2026. The European Commission intends to adopt a delegated act amending the reporting requirements in the first quarter of 2027.
